Shame can be a heavy burden, making us feel unworthy, disconnected, or trapped by our past. But the Bible reminds us that God’s grace is greater than our shame.

If you’re struggling with regret, guilt, or feeling unlovable, these verses are for you!

10 Bible Verses About Shame

Isaiah 54:4 | "Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Don’t be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood."

Romans 8:1 | "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus."

Psalm 34:5 | "Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces."

Joel 2:26 | "Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the Lord your God, who does these miracles for you. Never again will my people be disgraced."

Hebrews 12:2 | "We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne."

Micah 7:8 | "Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light."

1 Peter 2:6 |"As the Scriptures say, 'I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.’"

Psalm 25:3 | "No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others."

2 Corinthians 5:17 | "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"

Zephaniah 3:19 | "And I will deal severely with all who have oppressed you. I will save the weak and helpless ones; I will bring together those who were chased away. I will give glory and fame to my former exiles, wherever they have been mocked and shamed."

Shame doesn’t have the final word—God does. No matter what you’ve done or what’s been done to you, God is offering you freedom from shame. Keep turning to him, and let these truths remind you that you are loved, redeemed, and made new!
