Every July, LCBC looks a little different. Giant pirate ships show up in atriums. Chocolate waterfalls appear out of nowhere. You might even bump into a Jedi or a talking turtle on your way to the Auditorium.

It’s all part of At The Movies—an unforgettable experience where movies come to life and timeless truths meet real life. We tell powerful stories through blockbuster films, all with one goal in mind: to introduce more people to Jesus.

Why does LCBC do At The Movies?

We started At The Movies because we know that for many people, it’s easier to invite someone to a movie than to church. But what starts as a fun experience turns into something much more: an opportunity to hear God’s truth in a way that’s easy to connect with and hard to forget!

Part of what makes At The Movies so memorable is the immersive environments our teams build every year. Hundreds of volunteers jump in to transform campus atriums into immersive movie moments that let you walk right into the story. Here are just a few past favorites:

LCBC Dickson City: Toy Story

At LCBC Dickson City, guests stepped into Toy Story with characters in costume and a cardboard town modeled after the movie’s opening scene. Everything about the space made you feel like you were one of the toys, living in Andy’s room and ready for adventure!

LCBC Columbia-Montour: Finding Nemo

LCBC Columbia-Montour dove deep into Finding Nemo, with jellyfish and anemones cascading from the ceiling, a cafe transformed into a dock and boat launch, and even a “butt” hanging from the ceiling. Kids could even enjoy “talking time with Crush,” and talk to the laid-back turtle.

LCBC Harrisburg: Encanto

LCBC Harrisburg turned into the vibrant and magical world of Encanto, capturing the heart and color of the film. The atrium came alive with a cast of characters and vivid decorations that celebrated the uniqueness and warmth of the Madrigal family.

LCBC Lebanon: Pirates of the Caribbean

LCBC Lebanon set sail with Pirates of the Caribbean! Their build featured a larger-than-life pirate ship right in the atrium. Guests were transported to Tortuga, complete with pirate characters who were ready for photos and high-seas fun.

LCBC Manheim: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

LCBC Manheim turned their atrium into the town of Chewandswallow from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. A giant spaghetti tornado stood in the middle of the space, surrounded by “foodimals” like a tacodile and a cheeseburger spider for an experience that was as chaotic as it was delicious!

LCBC West Shore: Willy Wonka

At LCBC West Shore, the whimsical world of Willy Wonka came to life with a chocolate waterfall, the smell of chocolate in the air, and candy-themed details everywhere you looked. Lively music and bright visuals made it feel like you were truly inside the factory.

LCBC East York: Monsters, Inc.

At LCBC East York, the sound of screams echoed through the world of Monsters, Inc. Doors hand-painted doors hung from the ceiling, and children ran in and out of a “scream booth” where they could fill a working canister—just like the scare professionals in the movie!

LCBC Ephrata: Star Wars

At LCBC Ephrata, Star Wars fans were met with Jedi, stormtroopers, and more as they walked into a galactic experience. Kids could train with real Jedi, and lightsabers lit up the space, transporting guests to a galaxy far, far away.

What will we build this year?

This July, be sure to join us at an LCBC location near you for At The Movies and see what movie scenes are recreated! It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the family to church for an unforgettable experience—one that could make a huge impact.
