You may not have been a literal child when you started following Jesus, but something about your faith used to feel childlike. You didn’t know as much about God as you do now. You didn’t have an airtight explanation for why you believed. You prayed and assumed God heard you. When you read the Bible or heard a story from it, you had no trouble believing God was in it. Faith came easy.

But things eventually changed. Prayers started to go unanswered. Your questions got harder. Somewhere along the way, faith started to make less and less sense. You’ve started to feel jaded, and genuinely asked the question, “Do I actually believe this?”

Jesus once said, "I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it" (Mark 10:15, NLT).

What does it mean to have faith like a child? Can you even get back to that?

Kids rarely have all the answers—and they have a way of receiving what they don't fully understand, as long as it comes from someone they trust.

You can't go back to being a child, and you don't need to. But you probably can remember what it felt like to trust God before you believed you had to understand everything first.

Take five minutes today and think back to a moment when God felt real to you—back when your faith was new. Don't over-analyze it or try to explain it. Stay with the memory, and ask God what it would look like to trust him that way again.

Pray: God, I miss how simple it used to feel to trust you. Life has given me plenty of reasons to overthink my faith. Help me receive you the way a child would, without needing every answer first. Remind me how much you love me. Amen.
