Day 14 | The Church God Grows

Read:

As the early church grew, more and more people who were far from God found salvation in Jesus. And it wasn't because they had the best worship music, the sharpest preaching, or free coffee in the lobby. Those things can be a good use of what God provides, but they were never the source of the church's power. God added to their number because he was working through a community whose love for him and for one another was easy to see—and impossible to ignore.

Look closely at this verse. It doesn't say God grew the church's attendance. It says God added "those who were being saved." That's the whole point! Not more people in seats, but more lives changed by Christ.

The love and generosity of those ordinary believers reached people they never met—people like you. You're part of the legacy God started through their faithfulness. They couldn't have pictured you, all these years later, following the same Jesus they loved. And just as God used them to reach you, he wants to use you to reach people you'll never meet.

What God builds through us together is always greater than anything you could pull off on your own. When your love for Jesus shows up in how you love people, God changes lives. And when a whole community lives that way, he uses it to change the world. So live like someone's watching—because someone always is.

Pray: God, use my life and my church to reach someone who's still far from you. Make our love for you and for each other easy to see, and let it point people to Jesus. I want to be part of the legacy you're still building. Amen.
