Day 16 | Unable to Stay Quiet

Read:

Peter and John were in a genuinely high-pressure spot, staring down the barrel of real consequences. The council before them held all the earthly authority, and they ordered these two to never speak about Jesus again.

But Peter and John were clear about who they ultimately answered to: God, the highest authority there is. And after everything they'd seen, staying silent simply wasn't an option. They had walked with Jesus, watched him die, seen him alive again, and felt the power of the Holy Spirit for themselves. How do you keep something like that to yourself?

Their boldness wasn't recklessness, and it wasn't defiance for the thrill of it. It was the natural response of people who were absolutely convinced Jesus was alive. When you've really experienced his love, his grace, and his power, it becomes almost impossible not to tell somebody.

The same is true for you. Boldness isn't about having the perfect words or a naturally fearless personality. It's about loving Jesus more than you fear what people think. As your conviction about who he is grows, so does your courage to open your mouth.

What have you seen God do in your life? When’s the last time you told someone about it? You don't have to explain everything or win an argument. You just have to be willing to tell someone what you've experienced. Name one person who could hear it from you this week.

Pray: God, give me courage in the moments I'm tempted to stay quiet. Remind me that I don't need to have all the answers—you're just asking me to share what I've seen you do in my life. Help me love you more than I fear anyone's opinion of me. Amen.
