Day 31 | A Life Poured Out

Read:

“My life has already been poured out as an offering to God” (2 Timothy 4:6, NLT). Paul is talking about a life emptied on purpose, for something truly worthwhile.

Here’s the kicker: Paul wrote this from a prison cell, and his execution likely wasn’t far off. But he doesn't sound bitter or defeated. He sounds fulfilled. He’s saying, I fought the good fight, I finished the race, I kept the faith. Those are the words of a man at peace looking back on his life with confidence and assuredness.

We usually assume the goal is to protect ourselves. We save our energy and time, keeping something in our reserves. But even when we make sure to never give too much of ourselves, we still end up feeling strangely empty. It's the people who pour themselves out the most—for what matters—who look back with the fewest regrets.

Faithfulness stretched across years is its own kind of generosity. It's giving God not just one offering, one sacrifice, or one good season, but the whole thing, down to the last drop. You only get one life to pour out, so stop rationing it. Ask God where he wants it spent and start pouring now—while you still have something to give—instead of waiting until the end.

Pray: God, when I reach the end of my life, I want to say what Paul said. Take my whole life as an offering. Show me where to spend it and help me pour it out well. Amen.
