When you think about the best moments of your life, chances are you weren't alone. The memories you treasure most usually include people you love—family gathered around a table, friends celebrating with you, or someone who stood beside you during one of your hardest seasons.
That's not an accident. God created you for community.
The early church understood this. They didn't think of church as a place you show up to once a week. The church was people. They shared meals, prayed together, learned together, encouraged each other, and walked through life side by side.
Notice the choice of words in Acts 2:42: they devoted themselves. They weren't simply showing up—they were fully invested in one another. Devotion, not attendance, is what defined the early church.
The same is true today. You can't experience all God has for you while living in isolation or keeping people at arm's length. Some of God's greatest work in your life happens through the people he puts around you. As you follow Jesus alongside others, God shapes you through them in ways that rarely happen on your own.
When you choose to engage—to be seen, to be known, to walk alongside other followers of Jesus—you discover the gift community truly is.
Pray: God, please show me where I’m holding back from others and why. I believe that you have more to show me through relationships than I’ll ever find on my own, so help me stop keeping people at a distance and actually share my life. Give me the courage to be known.
