You can learn a lot about what someone loves by looking at two things: their calendar and their bank account. That's what Jesus is getting at: wherever your treasure is, that's where your heart already lives.
Jesus isn't trying to guilt you into anything. He's handing you a mirror. If you want to know what your heart is really set on, look at where your time and money have been going lately. The answer isn't a grade on whether you're a good person. It's just honest information about where your heart's been pointing.
Sometimes what you find lines up with what you say you value. Sometimes there's a gap. You can't nag your heart into caring about the right things, but you can use that gap as a signal that it’s time to recalibrate. Shift your time, your attention, your money—and your heart has a way of following it.
So don't just look at your calendar and your bank account and wince. Move something. Give an hour or a dollar to what you say matters most, and watch your heart start to catch up to it.
Pray: God, show me what my time and money reveal about my heart. I don't want to get defensive about it—I want to be honest. Move my treasure toward you, and let my heart follow it there. Amen.
