The world is always pulling on you. Buy this and you'll finally feel okay. Measure up to that person. Settle here, because this is as good as it gets. It's constant, but it can be subtle—and if you're not paying attention, you’ll drift right along with it.
The Bible essentially tells us to get a little stubborn against that current: don't copy the pattern of this world. Instead, let God transform you by changing the way you think. Transform is a key word. You can't transform yourself. Only God can do that. This transformation is a daily thing. It’s a thousand small but deliberate choices to let God shape your mind instead of letting the world do it for you.
Where have you settled? Where have you accepted a smaller version of what God wants to do in you? Don't just answer that in your head and move on. Pick one place you've gotten comfortable and hand it back to God. A transformation you only sample becomes a memory. A transformation you let continue becomes a life changed.
Pray: God, I've settled in a few places I'd rather not admit. Keep transforming me, especially where I've gotten too comfortable. Change the way I think, so I stop drifting with everything around me and start following you on purpose. Amen.
